AOMEI Backupper is a Windows backup software developed by AOMEI Technology. It is the second product of AOMEI family. The first is AOMEI Partition Assistant. AOMEI Backupper is the simplest free PC backupper, which supports the latest Windows 10. Besides system backup, it can backup disk, partition, folder and files. And can also clone disk and partition and do file sync. AOMEI Backupper defaults Ghost in terms of speed, installing, running, updating, maintaining and so on. AOMEI Backupper overcomes the old classical backup&restore software – Ghost’s disadvantages, and becomes a rising star — a full-scale and powerful backup&restore tool.

    Disadvantages of Ghost

The working principle of Ghost is make an image on an installed well system. Usually, Ghost is used for backing up operating system, and restore when the system can’t boot normally. However, many earlier users copy the image and use it on other computer to save time of restoring, thus, Ghost became very popular. With time goes by, the defects of Ghost became obviously.

Long time of backup and restore: With the increase of volume on hard disk, the volume of system partition can reach to 15G, some newbies’ C drive even up to 40-60G. If you try Ghost, will spend at least 40 minutes to backup.

Bad compatibility to Windows 7/8: Because Ghost can only backup one partition one time, but Windows 7 or Windows 8 system partition includes two partitions, people should run Ghost two times to backup as well as restore. Some newbies forget to backup another one, maybe computer can’t restore successfully later.

    Advantages of AOMEI Backupper

The core of AOMEI Backupper is not like Ghost’s, it is totally developed by AOMEI itself. It has its own benefits and break through many limited of Ghost. For example, when creating a system image on Windows 10, not need to reboot, which won’t influence user’s working or gaming. Its algorithm is unique and excellent, so that its operating speed is very fast.

We tested AOMEI Backupper and Ghost separately. The test environment is under Windows 7, tested system partition is 50GB, 40GB have used. The result shows that Ghost spends 45 minutes while AOMEI Backupper takes 14 minutes. You can do other things when backing up with AOMEI Backupper while using Ghost, the process is under DOS. About restore, AOMEI Backupper spends 15 minutes while Ghost spends 50 minutes. What’s worse, sometimes you can’t start system normally. Because Ghost is designed especially for Windows XP, it is old, it can back only one partition one time. However, AOMEI Backupper can complete backup two partitions one time, so it supports Windows 7 and other higher version very well.

    Conclusion

AOMEI Backupper Standard Edition is a free backup software. For common people, it is enough to use. Now AOMEI Backupper realized dissimilar hardware restore, also called universal restore, which make it much easier to users. If you are first heard of this software, you can download the Standard Edition and start to try.
